At Waterlane Equine Vets we offer a complete first opinion service throughout Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. We are an ambulatory practice with the added benefit of clinic facilities where we can perform radiographs, ultrasound scans, dental procedures and lameness work-ups if you do not have appropriate facilities at your yard. All of our diagnostic equipment is also fully mobile so we are equipped to carry out a full range of procedures in the comfort and convenience of your own yard if you prefer.
All of our vets are experienced in equine practice and bring with them a range of expertise and skills, from field anaesthesia and surgery, to poor performance examinations, to internal medicine investigations and stud work including artificial insemination. We treat a variety of horses from child’s ponies to 5* event horses and everything in between so you can be assured we will offer a top class service regardless of what level your horse or pony is at. We are also dedicated to offering the most up to date treatments and are proud that Dr Tim Watson is the Lead Veterinary Surgeon for Lipogems Equine (see below for more details). Two of our vets (Hannah and Hetty) can also perform acupuncture treatments.
We also carry out pre-purchase examinations both locally and further afield for existing clients. Pre-purchase radiographs can also be taken on site to suit buyer and insurer requirements.
At Waterlane Equine Vets we can also accept second opinion cases but in accordance with RCVS guidelines we will contact the first treating vet to discuss the case before any examination or treatment is carried out.
We also pride ourselves on providing outstanding customer service and offering value for money treatments. Have a look at our testimonials to see what our clients have to say about us.

My horse Spirit came down with Laminitis and the vets here have given an outstanding service. Tim came out twice as an on call vet at the weekend, and spent as long as it took to get Spirit comfortable, and then Holly came several times, nothing was too much trouble, she even helped me with poultice dressings when I didn have any, and was at the end of her mobile phone, if I was ever worried about anything. Laura in the office even helped give advice about how to fill in my insurance claim. All in all, they were all brilliant.
Dr Tim Watson – Lead Lipogems Equine Veterinary Surgeon
Tim has been responsible for pioneering this regenerative technology and training all the accredited veterinary surgeons. Lipogems Equine is committed to making sure that the treatment is responsibly used by only providing kits to accredited veterinary surgeons. Lipogems Equine is a microfragmented adipose tissue graft that is used to treat a range of soft tissue and orthopaedic conditions and injuries such as osteoarthritis, ligament and tendon injuries. The treatment is minimally invasive, safe, cost-effective and can be done under standing sedation stable-side in under an hour. Please visit the website for further information, case studies and the science behind the procedure.
Target Worm Counts
Waterlane Equine Vets offers a worm egg count service in conjunction with Target Worm Counts, run by Emma Atkin. Samples can be dropped off at the practice or handed in at the collection point in Eastington, near Stonehouse, if easier (where Stroud Saddlery is located). You don’t need to pay anything at the time – just mention that you are a Waterlane client and the results will be reported by us along with the invoice for payment. Please have a look at the Target Worm Counts website for more information and updates on any research projects being carried out.
